A vulnerable man has been jailed because there is no suitable accommodation for him on the island.
28 year old Jordan Declan John Caley appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood at Douglas Courthouse.
He admitted criminal damage, possessing cannabis, possessing a blade, threatening behaviour, and two counts of burglary.
A report recommended putting him on probation, but Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood said that she could only do that if he had an address to go to.
The court heard despite the efforts of probation services, no address could be found for him.
Calling it a "very sad and unsatisfactory situation", she jailed him for 30 weeks, saying it wasn't the most appropriate sentence.
