Witnesses give accounts on fatal road traffic collision

Motorists who were travelling on the Laxey to Ramsey Coast Road when a collision claimed the life of a fireman have been reliving the moment they realised there'd been a crash.

43-year-old Ramsey man Neil Walker died on August 6th last year when the motorbike he was riding collided with a VW Golf near to Bulgham Rocks.

It was being driven by Derbyshire man James Ricketts - the 51-year-old is now standing trial accused of causing death by careless driving.

At Douglas Courthouse yesterday the jury heard from two women who were following Mr Ricketts' car - one described him as "hesitant" as if he didn't know where he was going.

They both reported seeing Mr Walker pass in the opposite direction at speed with one of the motorists describing how she saw the impact of the crash in her rear view mirror.

Mr Ricketts' denies the charge - the trial continues.
